Your account, your data, and how to leave

The measure of a tool you give access to your business is not what it promises while you are using it — it is how cleanly you can leave. This covers what Soclo holds, what you can turn off, and precisely what happens if you delete everything, including the parts that survive.
How you sign in
Soclo uses one of three sign-in methods: Apple, Google, or an email and password. The account security screen tells you which one this account uses, which matters more than it sounds — most "I can't get in" situations are someone trying a password on an account that signs in with Apple.
If you use Apple or Google, there is no Soclo password to lose or leak, because the credential never reaches us. Changing it is done with Apple or Google. If you use an email and password, that is the one thing worth putting in a password manager.
Connections do not involve passwords
When you connect Instagram, Facebook or any other platform, the sign-in happens on that platform's own page, and what comes back is a permission token — an instruction from them saying this app may do these specific things. Your social password is never typed into Soclo and is never stored by us.
Two useful consequences. First, you can end access from the platform's own settings at any time without involving us at all, and it takes effect immediately. Second, tokens expire by design and are also revoked by a password change, an account-type change, or losing an admin role on a Page — which is why a connection that worked in spring can quietly stop working in autumn. That is the token doing its job rather than something being broken.
When a connection lapses, Soclo says plainly that it can no longer post, run ads or read analytics until you reconnect. It does not fail quietly. Connecting your accounts covers the detail.
The privacy settings that change something
Inside the app, privacy settings control the things that are genuinely optional:
- AI data sharing — whether your content may be used to improve the products. This differs by plan: the free tier states that content is used to improve products, and paid plans state that it is not. Both are written on the pricing page rather than buried.
- Campaign measurement — whether ad platforms may measure the campaigns you run.
- Usage data linked to your account — how the app is used, for making it work better.
- Blocked accounts — a list you control, and can unblock from.
What is not optional is the data required for the thing you asked for. If you schedule a post, we hold the post. That is not a setting; it is the feature.
Before you delete: cancel the subscription
Subscriptions are held by Apple or Google, not by Soclo. Deleting your account removes your data from us and tells the store nothing at all, so a plan carries on renewing against an account that no longer exists.
Cancel in your device account settings first and confirm it there, then delete. Managing your subscription has the exact steps for both stores.
Spend your credits too. Unused credits are removed with the account and are not refundable for money, so a balance you paid for simply goes.
What deletion actually removes
Permanently, and not recoverable by us afterwards:
- Your Soclo account and all access to it.
- Your business profile and Brand Kit.
- All posts and scheduled content held in Soclo.
- Analytics data and campaign history.
- Conversation history and inbox messages.
- Any unused AI credits.
What deletion does not touch
- Anything already published. Posts on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or anywhere else belong to those accounts. They stay exactly where they are.
- Your social profiles themselves. Connected accounts are disconnected from Soclo — straight away or shortly afterwards — and the accounts continue as normal.
- Your subscription, as above.
This is the right way round. Deleting a tool should remove the tool, not the work you did with it.
Leaving without deleting
Deletion is not the only exit, and it is often not the one people want. Three lighter options:
- Cancel and stay on the free tier. Billing stops, the account and your Brand Kit remain, and nothing is destroyed.
- Disconnect the platforms but keep the account. Soclo can no longer post anywhere while everything you have set up stays intact.
- Revoke access at the platform. The fastest possible stop, and it does not depend on us being reachable or on anything in our app working.
If what you want is "stop doing things on my behalf, right now", the third is the one to use, and you do not need our permission to use it.
If deletion fails
The app is explicit rather than vague when it cannot complete a deletion — it says deletion is unavailable and asks you to reopen account settings and retry, rather than reporting a success that did not happen. If it keeps failing, email [email protected] and it will be handled manually.
Where to go next
What Soclo will never do without asking covers the boundaries that hold while you are using it. Managing your subscription covers billing, and connecting your accounts covers permissions in more depth.
Common questions
What happens to my published posts if I delete my Soclo account?
They stay up. Posts published to Instagram, Facebook or anywhere else belong to those accounts, not to Soclo. Deleting Soclo disconnects us from your profiles; it does not touch anything already published.
Does Soclo know my social media passwords?
No. Connections are made through each platform’s own sign-in, which hands back a permission token rather than a password. There is no field in Soclo where a social password is typed, and revoking access on the platform ends it immediately.
Is my content used to train AI models?
There is a setting for it, and the answer differs by plan: on the free tier content may be used to improve the products, and on paid plans it is not. The pricing page states this per tier, and the privacy setting in the app is where you control it.
How do I delete my account?
From the account settings inside the app. Cancel any subscription in your device settings first — deleting the account does not stop store billing. Deletion is permanent and is not reversible by us.
What exactly gets deleted?
Your account and access, your business profile and Brand Kit, all posts and scheduled content, analytics and campaign history, conversation and inbox messages, and any unused credits. Connected social accounts are disconnected. Published posts and your profiles themselves stay live.
How do I change my sign-in method?
The account security screen shows which method you use — Apple, Google, or an email and password. If you signed in with Apple or Google, the password lives with them rather than with us, so it is changed there.
Still stuck? Tell us the screen or address, what you expected and what happened. Never send a password, verification code or full card details.
